Our Simple Standard

Have a public record, correction, question, analysis, or opinion about a matter affecting New Kent County? Send it to us.

You do not need to be an attorney, professional writer, or subject-matter expert. Drafts and works in progress are welcome. If something is incomplete or still being verified, simply tell us that.

Whenever possible, published claims should link directly to source records so citizens can read the material and reach their own conclusions. Tell us what is documented, what is your analysis or opinion, and what is still being gathered or verified.

Your Name, Privacy & Anonymous Submissions

Please provide your real name and valid contact information whenever possible. This helps us verify the submission, ask follow-up questions, and better understand the information provided. Your contact information will not ordinarily be published.

You may request that your name remain confidential or that the submission be published anonymously. We will consider those requests carefully, particularly when privacy, employment, personal safety, or fear of retaliation may be involved.

Completely anonymous submissions are also welcome. However, if we cannot contact the person who submitted the information, we may need additional records or independent verification before publishing it—especially when the submission contains serious allegations about an identifiable person or organization.

Anonymous information may also be used as a starting point for further research, even when it cannot be published by itself.
